PICPA Northern Emirates Officially Recognized as the Newest PICPA Chapter in the Middle East

Strengthening Filipino CPA Presence and Professional Growth in the Middle East

JUNE 13, 2024

PICPA Northern Emirates is proud to announce its official recognition as the newest chapter of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) in the Middle East. This significant milestone was achieved on March 23, 2024, when PICPA National President, Mr. Randy Blanza, signed the accreditation, granting PICPA NE affiliate number 208. This recognition not only strengthens the presence of Filipino CPAs in the region but also opens up numerous opportunities for professional growth and development.

Registered at Sharjah Publishing City, PICPA NE engages in a broad spectrum of activities, including business and employers’ membership organizations, chambers of commerce, training on personal competencies, and the organization of business and trade events. These activities are aimed at fostering a dynamic and supportive environment for its members. Additionally, as an accredited member of the Philippine Professional Organization (PPO) UAE, PICPA NE is committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and excellence.

The chapter was founded by Mr. Warren Ong Dy, who, along with a dedicated team of officers, is leading the charge in driving the chapter’s mission forward. The leadership team includes President Warren Dy, Vice President Rolando Caypuno, Secretary Michelle Pacis, Treasurer Mohaina Asira, PRO Salvador Caacbay, and Auditor Camille Samonte. The Board of Directors, chaired by Warren Dy, includes Vice President Rolando Caypuno and three officers: Mohaina Asira, Thomas Padua, and Rafael Pacatang. This board plays a crucial role in setting the strategic direction of the chapter.

To ensure comprehensive support and development opportunities for its members, PICPA NE has established various committees with dedicated leaders. These include Professional Development led by Thomas Padua, Education headed by Lyza Tamsi, and Meetings organized by Angel Tolentino. The Fellowship Committee, led by Kirk Edwin de Jesus, and the Sports Committee, co-chaired by Aldrin Abalos and Mark Davidson Nerizon, aim to foster camaraderie and teamwork among members. Other committees include Publications, with leaders Art Noel Berones and Marie Kris Angeles; Membership, led by Ma. Cristina Suyom; Finance, headed by Mohaina Asira; Head of Tax Matters, led by Rafael Pacatang; and Marketing, co-chaired by John Robinson Leonardo and Clarisse Francisco – Roche. Additionally, the Partnership and Outreach Associate committee is headed by Junaifa Asira, while the Associate committee includes Teresita Cruz, Denise Isabel Reyes, and Arvin Añana.

The chapter also benefits from the guidance of esteemed advisors such as Atty. Barney Almazar and Atty. Dexter Destajo. The formation of PICPA NE was made possible with the support of notable figures like PICPA National Executive Director Mr. Bernabe Calleon, former PICPA LIPA President Mr. Ronald Alvares, and Prof. Jekell Salosagcol. Their invaluable contributions have been instrumental in the chapter’s establishment and growth.

Looking ahead, PICPA Northern Emirates is gearing up for its first General Assembly and Oath-taking ceremony. The leadership team and members are excited to embark on this new journey, fostering professional growth, networking, and community engagement within the accounting profession.
